You have to check out this beautiful and unique collection of F. Schumacher feather wallcoverings. The Nest Collection uses humanely gathered feathers that are applied by hand. I got to see several panels in person last week and they are amazing! I want to use this somewhere.... who is ready?

Design Inspirations

Inspiration for design can come from many places. In design school, I remember getting the opportunity to design a space from words we drew from a hat...things like clouds, the ocean, the different seasons, or the elements. I love it when a client comes to me and asks for an interior based on something special or unique.

My sister-in-law and her family are happiest at the beach. She has decorated the kids bathroom with objects they found on the beach, photos from their trips, and the walls and tile are in coastal colors. I feel happy when I see that room.

What inspires you? What makes you happy?

Yellow

Yellow seems to be a strong contender for the "it" color this year. I have always like yellow combined with blue and white. One of my clients is combining yellow with soft greens and ivory for a beautiful bedroom. I really like yellow combined with gray, white, and a little black. Golden yellow combined with brown creates a warm palette and makes me think of the 1970's. Here are some of my favorite new things in yellow:

I love Benjamin Moore Regal Matte Paint!

I recently used Benjamin Moore Regal Matte paint for a Study in color Classic Caramel. I love the matte look and what makes it even better is that it is cleanable like a satin, or an eggshell, paint. This room is located between two bedrooms and a bathroom and will get a lot of traffic. I was concerned a flat would get dirty quickly and I did not want to use an eggshell because I needed to take the color right on to the ceiling too. The Regal Matte turned out to be a perfect solution.

Here is some information on Regal Matte according to the Benjamin Moore website:

"Featuring Advanced Particle Technology™. A premium quality 100% acrylic flat enamel featuring excellent stain resistance. It contains microscopic ceramic beads and proprietary stain release technology that together create a protective surface that resists the absorption of stains. Most common household stains can be easily removed with mild soap and water."

It is amazing what technology can do!
